- PublicationOpen AccessUn nuevo debate sobre las patentes farmacéuticas a propósito del coronavirus SARS-CoV-2(Ekonomiaz, 2021) Sánchez García, Luz; Derecho Privado; Facultad de DerechoThe SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and its associated disease –Covid-19– highlights the weakness of the global health system and entails an strong resurgence of a long-running debate in which the pharmaceutical industry –which has developed or is developing vaccines and drugs to treat the disease and intends to see its work rewarded– faces the general public who, as the recipient of such results, demand prompt, fair and equitable access to preventive and palliative treatments related with the coronavirus. This paper analyzes, both from a factual and legal level, the current context of the pandemic and with this purpose it makes a review of previous experiences with similar connotations and studies the legal instruments available to lessen the tensions between the relevant actors.
