    La liberación de Auschwitz (1945). Dos perspectivas historiográficas: la occidental y la rusa

    In Hitler’s Europe, the construction of concentration and extermination camps was common, mainly in Central Europe and in countries allied with Germany. Therefore, in this article we will analyze what the concentration camps were, with special focus on the Auschwitz complex. From the construction of Auschwitz in 1940 until its liberation, countless atrocities were committed against the prisoners held there, most of them Jews, although there were also Soviet citizens, Roma people, political prisoners, and others. Without a doubt, the concentration and extermination camps were sinister places where the Nazis carried out their “Final Solution” plan, whose main symbol, apart from forced labor, was the use of gas chambers, in which the deadly gas known as Zyklon B was employed.
